A farewell programme was organised on 29 April 2025 for Mrs Vinatha, K, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology, Dr Shailaja K, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Kannada and Mrs Sandhya Pai Assistant Professor, Department of English on their attainment of superannuation at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Mrs Vinatha and Dr Shailaja retired after 34 years of service each and Mrs Sandhya Pai served the college for 18 Years.

A prayer service was held for the well- being of the members attaining superannuation. The retiring staff members were felicitated in a traditional manner by Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, The Joint Secretary, St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the Principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Sr Carmel Rita AC, The Administrator of the college and Mr Ravi Bhat, the PTA Vice President.

In her address, Sr Dr Maria Roopa commended the retiring members for their efforts in creating the nurturing environment that defines St Agnes College as an institution. The Principal, Sr Dr Venissa defined the unique roles that each of the faculty members shone in during their years at the college, and appreciated their commitment and dedication to the institution.

Dr Hithakshi from the Psychology Department was effusive in her praise of Mrs Vinatha as a colleague and the Head of the Department. Dr Basthyam Pais, Department of Kannada was highly appreciative of the work of Dr Shailaja, and Mrs Geethanjali Prabhu spoke on Mrs Sandhya’s dedication at work, and her dignified personality, with much love and regard.

Mrs Vinatha addressed the gathering and traced her journey in the college while recalling the various responsibilities that she held during the years and the people who had made the journey memorable and joyous. Dr Shailaja’s speech was laced with humour as she recounted her own time at St Agnes, relating her triumphs and struggles and fondly remembering those who stood by her. Mrs Sandhya recounted the appreciation and encouragement provided by the various Principals under whom she served, as well as the motivation by colleagues in the English department and outside.

A Farewell song by the members of the staff added poignancy to the occasion. The programme ended with a light repast for all.
