The Sports Forum of MCA in association with the Department of Physical Education and Sports organized the AGNO Cup Season 2 Box Football tournament on Thursday 25th July 2024, at the St. Agnes College ground, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore. The banner of the event was revealed on Thursday 18th July 2024 with a flash mob. The inaugural event began by 9 am and was hosted by Miss.Vaishnavi Shenoy of II MCA. The dignitaries present included Sr. Dr. M. Venissa A.C. – The Principal, Sr. Dr. Roopa Rodrigues A.C – The Vice Principal, Sr. Dr.M. Vinora A.C. -The PG Coordinator, Mrs. Panchajanyeswari, – HOD (MCA), Mr. Nagesh, – Dean (Arts), Mrs. Vasudha S – (PD), along with referees Mr. Ibrahim and Mr. Pavan. Ms. Raksha and team of I MCA led the gathering in prayer. Ms. Niharika Pandit of I MCA welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Ashwitha of I MCA introduced the referees. Mr. Ibrahim addressed the participants, conveying his best wishes. Sr. M Venissa A.C. delivered the presidential speech and extended her best wishes to the players. Mrs. Panchajanyeswari, also conveyed her motivational message to the gathering.
The Agno Cup trophies were unveiled and the tournament was inaugurated by the dignitaries through a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The tournament began with Round 1 and consisted of 3 rounds in total. Overall 16 teams from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels participated in the tournament. Mr. Manish of II MCA hosted the Valedictory Program, graced by dignitaries who presented the trophies to the winners and runners-up of the tournament. Team Noob secured the “Champions” title of the tournament, and Team SAAC A secured the “Runners-up” title. Mr. Naseef was awarded the “Best Player” title, Mr. Christopher was named “Best Goalkeeper,” and Mr. Seiminlun Mate received the “Maximum Goals” award for the tournament.
The AGNO Cup Season 2 Box Football tournament was a resounding success, fostering sportsmanship and companionship among the participants. The event not only showcased the talent and determination of the players but also strengthened the collaboration between the departments.
