St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in association with the Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK), organised a Drug Awareness programme “Awaken the Mind – Choose a Drug-Free Life” on 10 December 2025 at the Mother Aloysia Centenary Auditorium.
Dr Ruksana Hassan, Child Psychologist, Trainer and Life Coach delivered an impactful session highlighting the importance of saying “No” to drugs. She narrated her personal experiences to help students understand the consequences of drug use and the significance of making responsible choices.
ACP Geetha Kulkarni explained the recent changes in IPC, CRPC and the Evidence Act, and spoke about the alarming rise in drug addiction cases over the past five years. She also shared statistical figures on the increasing number of reports being filed, urging students to remain vigilant, informed and responsible.
The students of First Year undergraduate and postgraduate studies along with their respective teachers and members of Anti-Drug Cell actively participated in the programme. The dignitaries present for the event included the ACP Geetha Kulkarni, Resource Person Dr Ruksana Hassan, Sr Dr Venissa, Principal, Mr Ronald Gomes, CASK President, Mrs Marjorie Texeira, Vice President CASK & Vice President, Alumni Association, Mr Ronald Mendonce, Treasurer CASK and Mr Peter Pinto, CASK Secretary.
The programme was effectively compered by Agnes Prince, a student of B.Sc. The event concluded with an insightful and meaningful awareness programme aimed at empowering young minds to choose a healthy, drug-free life.
