A Seminar on “Big Data, Bigger Opportunities” was delivered by Ms. Relisha Dsouza, Asst Prof of MSc. Big Data Analytics on March 21st for third year BSc batch students. She started the session by explaining what big data is and why it’s becoming important in many industries today. She spoke about how big data is used in real life and why it matters in today’s world. She then discussed the different job options available in the field of data analytics, including the types of roles, the demand for professionals, required skills, and general salary expectations. She also introduced the M.Sc. Big Data Analytics course, talking about what students learn each semester, who can apply, and the kind of placements past students have received. She mentioned a few companies where alumni are currently working and shared examples of internships that students from earlier batches have completed. In addition, she spoke about the various college fests and workshops that are part of the program. These events give students a chance to learn new things and take part in activities outside the classroom. At the end, some of the students currently studying in the Big Data Analytics programme, shared their valuable insights about the Big Data Analytics programme to the BSc students. Overall, the seminar helped students better understand the field of data analytics and encouraged them to think about it as a possible career path.
