The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a one-day workshop on photography titled “Capture the Moment” on the 17th of August, 2024 at Avila Block.

The workshop featured Mr. Akshath GV, the Social Media Production Manager for the Chief Minister of Karnataka, as well as the Transport and Minor Irrigation Minister, as the resource person for the day.

He shared his expertise on the finer aspects of photography, emphasizing the importance of lighting, angles, ISO, aperture, and shutter speed in capturing powerful images.

He stressed, “If you select the right angle for a picture, it can tell hundreds of stories and significantly enhance the beauty of the subject.” His session offered practical advice and inspired participants to see photography not just as a hobby, but as a powerful medium of expression.

In addition to the workshop, the department also organized a photography competition to mark the occasion. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines.

Lydia Baite, a 2nd-year BSc student, won the first prize, while Shahid Patel, from 2nd-year BCA, secured the second prize.
