The postgraduate department of Big Data Analytics at St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru organised a Mini Hackathon, CIFRA 2K25, on 22 September 2025, a dynamic platform for students to transform ideas into impactful solutions. This is the first Hackathon conducted at St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru. The event was inaugurated by the Principal Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C, the PG Coordinator Sr Dr M. Vinora A.C. and the Registrar Mrs. Shubharekha.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of undergraduate studies from various institutions. The themes for the Mini Hackathon were aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. For a given problem statement, each team had the opportunity to ideate, prototype, and present their solution to a panel of judges.
The mentors for the event were Mr Sathyendra Bhat J, Assistant Professor & Head- Training and Placement, St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru and Mr Bhushan A Bangera, Software Engineer at Mangalore InfoTech Solutions, Pvt Ltd. The judges for the event were Dr Sana Aboobaker, ENT specialist at Fr Muller Medical College, Ms Sheeba H Bangera, Software Engineer at CodeCraft Technologies and Ms Sharon D’souza, Vertical Head of Yi Mangaluru Chapter and Founder of Green Xperts.
The valedictory programme included felicitating the winners after an enthralling session of prototype presentations by the participants. The first prize of the hackathon was bagged by students from A J Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangaluru, who received a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- sponsored by Mr Ganesha Kumar from HP Inc, Bengaluru. The second prize was bagged by students from Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, Kuloor, who received a cash prize of Rs.7000/- sponsored by Ms. Lavita Ferrao from Portsmouth, London. The third prize was bagged by students of NMAMIT, Nitte, who received a cash prize of Rs.3000/- sponsored by Advocate Famida Akthar D K from Puttur. Two consolation prizes were awarded to teams from St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru and Yenepoya Institute of Technology, Moodbidri for their remarkable performance.
