The implementation team departed from St. Agnes College and arrived at Bagambila Government School. Upon arrival, the team, guided by staff coordinator Ms. Bhoomika, met with the headmaster Mr. Vasanth to outline the program’s purpose and scope. The headmaster and teaching staff responded positively, offering full support for the activities and expressing strong interest in the program’s potential benefits for their students.
Our team of 25 students then engaged with the schoolchildren, who welcomed the team with exceptional enthusiasm. To assess current levels of English proficiency, the team used interactive approaches such as educational games and action songs. These activities provided insights into comprehension, vocabulary recognition, and speaking confidence, while creating a supportive and encouraging learning atmosphere.
The one-hour interactive session successfully built strong rapport between the implementation team and the students while simultaneously providing valuable assessment insights. Students responded with great enthusiasm to music and game-based activities, highlighting the effectiveness of these methods for future program development. The session concluded with a group photograph, serving both as documentation and as a positive memory for participants, while also creating a baseline record for future evaluation.
The inaugural visit to Bagambila Government School highlighted significant potential for implementing the Communicative English program. Although students are at an early stage, with English skills primarily limited to alphabet recognition, their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn provide a strong foundation for developing communication abilities. This initiative not only addresses essential language learning needs but also serves as a meaningful model for bridging educational gaps between urban and rural contexts.
