The primary objective of the Extension Activity is to foster empathy and social awareness among students by providing them with hands-on experience in community service. It sought to help students understand the importance of giving back to society, emphasizing the value of compassion and active engagement in addressing social issues. Through direct interaction and practical involvement, students are encouraged to develop a deeper connection with the community and a greater appreciation for the impact of their contributions.
Upon the arrival, Fr. Avinash, the Assistant Director, St. Antony’s Charity Institute in Jeppu, graciously welcomed the students and provided an insightful introduction of the Charity institute, delving into its rich history and the array of facilities it offers to its residents. Following this warm reception, a commemorative group photo was captured with the institute’s director before embarking on a tour of the premises.
Throughout the visit, students had the opportunity to engage with the institute’s residents and differently-abled residents, listening to their stories and experiences with genuine interest, empathy and also providing companionship.
The highlight of the day was a special program organized for the institute’s residents, commencing with a warm welcome and introduction by Harshitha. The serene ambiance of the chapel was filled with melodious prayers sung by Fabiann and Joanna, followed by a captivating dance performance by Susha and her group. The program reached its crescendo with a soulful group song performed by the students, culminating in a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Reema.
