The UG Department of Nutrition and Health Education organized a Career Guidance Program for all NHE students on the theme “Fueling Futures in Nutrition: Guiding You from Classroom to Career” on August 18th at 9.30 am in A4 Hall.
The program began with a prayer song by Ms. Anushree and group of II-year NHE students. Ms. Ayesha Hifa, a III-year NHE student, served as the Master of Ceremony. Ms. Akshatha R Sanil, Assistant Professor, Department of NHE, welcomed the gathering, while Mrs. Prima Ferrao, Assistant Professor, Department of NHE, introduced the resource person, Ms. Jovita Carrol Soans, Assistant Professor, St. Aloysius Deemed-to-be University, Mangalore.
In her insightful talk, Ms. Jovita highlighted the career opportunities available after completing B.Sc. / B.A. in Nutrition and Health Education. She elaborated on:
• Job opportunities in nutrition and food industry sectors.
• The scope of higher education and specialization courses.
• Importance of preparing for competitive examinations.
• Prospects in entrepreneurship, consultancy, and freelancing.
• Government jobs in the food safety and regulatory sectors.
She also motivated students to identify their areas of interest, develop necessary skills, and stay updated with emerging trends in the nutrition field.
Indeed, the session was highly informative and beneficial for the students, as it provided clarity on various career paths and helped them envision future prospects. Students expressed that the session inspired them to set career goals, explore higher education, and build confidence in shaping their professional journey.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Evangeline Bangera, I-year NHE student. 35 students actively participated in this session.
