The Department of Secretarial Practice, St Agnes College (Autonomous) in association with Ramakrishna Mission organised a workshop on House Waste Management and Pot Compost Demonstration on 1 August 2019 at 2.00 p.m. in A4 Avila Block.

Mr Umanath Kotekar, the Chief co-ordinator, Swatch Mangalore Abhiyan and Mr Sachin Coordinator, Swacchta Samparka Abhiyan were the resource persons. They briefed the participants about the functioning of their mission from its inception and the various programmes conducted by the Ramakrishna Mission towards bringing awareness in and around Mangaluru for keeping the city clean.

They educated the need to segregate dry and wet waste of each house and not litter the house waste in public places. With various examples they informed the students about the initiative taken by their members to keep the city clean. They explained the consequences of mismanagement of waste.

They gave a demonstration of making pot compost, its benefits and taught about either using it for their own plants or to sell it to the places made available. The delegates were also were told that by keeping their surrounding clean and tidy they would have a swacha, sundara and samradha environment.

Mrs Shanthi Nazareth, Dean of Arts introduced the speakers. Dr Nancy Vaz gave the feedback of the session, Ms Vinitha Crasta proposed the vote of thanks. The staff, students and some of the parents were present for this workshop.
