On 4th April 2025, the 1st Bcom Students had gone on an industrial visit to Kalbavi Cashew Industry, Baikampady.
The resource person, Leo sir, went into detail into the seven day process of a cashew in its husk to a cashew ready for sale. He explained that the industry imports its raw materials from various countries like Tanzania, Kenya etc. The reason for this is that Indian cashews are seasonal and are not available all year round.
After this, the students went inside the factory to observe the entire process, including the enormous warehouse for storing these cashews, the roasting process, the boilers, humidifiers and the final grading process.
This entire trip was very informative and educational, and we couldn’t have managed it without our Lecturers in charge: Mr Fredvin Crasta, Mr Dilsun Dsouza and Ms. Merin V M.
