One of the key highlights of the trip was the industrial visit to “Harrison Malayalam Pvt. Ltd.,” a reputed tea plantation and processing company. At the tea factory, students observed the complete process of tea manufacturing, including withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, grading, and packaging. The visit offered valuable insights into large-scale production techniques, quality control measures, and hygiene standards maintained in the industry. Students also had the opportunity to explore and purchase various flavors of tea.
The group also visited “BeeCraft Honey Museum”, where students learned about apiculture and the scientific processing of honey. The museum showcased different species of bees, varieties of honey, and demonstrated the process of honey extraction and filtration. This visit enhanced students’ understanding of sustainable practices and the medicinal importance of honey. Students also had the opportunity to explore and purchase various types of honey.
Another enriching experience was the visit to the “Live Chocolate Factory:, where students observed the preparation of different varieties of chocolates, gelatos, and packaging techniques. The session provided insights into food processing methods, hygiene standards, and small-scale industry management.
In addition to the industrial visits, the trip included several sightseeing locations. The group explored the historic “Edakkal Caves”, known for their ancient rock engravings that provide evidence of early human civilization, enriching students’ knowledge of history and anthropology. The scenic “Karapuzha Dam” offered a refreshing experience amidst nature. Students also participated in a tribal safari, gaining meaningful insights into the IKS system by observing the lifestyle, culture, and sustainable living practices of the indigenous communities of Wayanad.
Overall, this Educational trip was a perfect blend of academic learning and recreation. It provided practical exposure related to Chemistry, Nutrition and Food processing industries, while also fostering environmental awareness and cultural appreciation.
