The event commenced with a warm welcome and an invocation led by Mr. Shaun and group, followed by a vibrant welcome dance by Ms. Anika and her team that set a lively tone for the day. Mrs. Vineetha, Head of the Department of Commerce, extended a heartfelt welcome, highlighting the importance of commerce in shaping industries and careers.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the release of a series of academic publications authored and edited by the department’s faculty. These included an edited book chapter comprising conference proceedings and four newly published textbooks tailored for B.Com students. Mr. Rodney Vaz, Assistant Professor and a prolific author with six books to his credit, introduced the publications and contributing authors.
The event was graced by Prof. Arun Pai, retired Associate Professor of Commerce, who delivered an inspiring address reflecting on the evolution of commerce education. Sr. Dr. M Venissa A.C., Principal of the college, delivered the Presidential Address, applauding the faculty’s academic contributions and encouraging students to pursue excellence.
The day also featured the ‘Entrepreneurs at St Agnes’ competition, which provided a platform for students to showcase innovative business ideas. Winners were announced and felicitated alongside students who successfully cleared their ACCA papers in the June 2025 attempt.
The event concluded with the Mad-Ad Competition, a creative showcase blending commerce and performance, adding a fun and energetic end to the day’s proceedings.
The International Commerce Day celebration at St Agnes College was a testament to the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student empowerment.
