Cadet Celine D’Silva, (NCC Airwing) from II BSc, St Agnes College (Autonomous) had the honour of representing Karnataka & Goa Directorate in the newly introduced Drone Team at the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC) 2025. Their team won the Gold Medal in the Drone Competition, contributing to the directorate securing both Best Directorate in Drone Operations and Best Air Contingent at AIVSC. Cadet Celine was selected among six cadets from the squadron to attend the Drone Training Camp (DTC) at KSOU, Mysore. The DTC was followed by three phases of Pre-Vayu Sainik Camps (PVSC 1, 2 & 3) held ETI Jalahalli, Bangalore. PVSC-3 involved advanced training, and building two complete drones from scratch, which gave a strong technical confidence. At AIVSC 2025, every directorate competed at an exceptionally high level across five events—Drone Assembly, Flying Skills, Innovation & Design, Written Test, and Viva Voce. In the assembly phase, and were tested on components and configuration. The strongest segment of their team was Innovation & Design, where they presented “Géfyra”, a drone-based flying router concept for improving connectivity in low-signal areas. Winning the competition and representing her directorate at an all-India level is one of the proudest moments of NCC journey.
Cadet Celine D’silva, was felicitated for her achievements on International Volunteers Day (IVD) 5 December 2025 by U T Khader, speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Sr Dr M Venissa AC, Principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Government of Karnataka, Christian Hainzl, Regional manager – Asia & the Pacific, UNV, Bangkok, Meenakshi Arya, IAS, Assistant commissioner of Mangaluru, and Raghuveer Souterpete, operations and programme head Yuvanika Foundation. The ANOs of NCC Airwing F/O Dr Hithakshi B and NCC Armywing Lt Gayathri BK were also present.
