A one-day workshop on theatre and acting skills for beginners “Behind the Castle” was conducted by the Litwit and Western Dramatics Association, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru for the interested candidates. The resource person was Mr Ujwal U.V who is a popular local artist and a graduate from Nee Naa Sam School of Drama, Heggodu, Sagara, Shimoga Dist. The participants explored the history and origins of theatre and also looked into the contemporary possibilities. The various elements that go into the making of a play and building of characters were discussed and demonstrated at length. Various theatre related activities were conducted which helped them hone their acting skills and build on their powers of observation and understanding. The need for constant practice and updation of skills was also discussed in depth. There were ten participants in the workshop and the experience was personalised and each of the participants was given detailed feedback and tips to improve his or her performance skills.
