The Student Welfare Committee organized an orientation programme for Class Representatives and their Assistants on 5 July 2025 from 9am to 1pm. The programme was conducted with the aim of nurturing leadership qualities and preparing the student leaders for their roles and responsibilities. The sessions focused on leadership development, self-discipline, communication, and time management to enable effective class representation.

Session 1: Prayer and Introduction

The session began with a prayer and a formal welcome by Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues A.C., Vice Principal of the college. She highlighted the significance of student leadership and encouraged the participants to approach their responsibilities with sincerity, dedication, and humility.

Session 2: Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations

Dr Devi Prabha Alva, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce conducted this session by outlining the key duties of class representatives. She emphasized the importance of time management, organizational skills, and maintaining a positive approach. She inspired students with the thought, “Be deaf to negative thoughts if your aim is to reach your goal,” encouraging them to remain focused and committed despite challenges.

Session 3: Leadership in Action

This session was led by Ms Rosita Sequeira, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Clinical Psychology. Through 3 to 4 engaging activities, she demonstrated practical leadership qualities, discussed what defines a good leader, and clarified leadership styles. She concluded with a powerful message: “Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions.”

The Orientation Programme effectively equipped the class representatives and their assistants with vital leadership insights and skills. Through reflective discussions and interactive activities, the participants gained clarity, confidence, and motivation to serve as responsible and inspiring student leaders in the academic year ahead.
