Under the mentorship of Mrs. Vineetha, Staff-in-Charge, and the overall coordination of Dr. Shailaja, Staff Coordinator of the ATC, the enthusiastic III B.Com ATC students organized a meaningful outreach activity as part of Vanamahotsava celebrations. The program took place at Dakshina Kannada Government Primary School, Thumbe, where students actively participated in promoting environmental awareness among young minds.

As part of the initiative, the students planted saplings within the school premises and also distributed several saplings to the school children, encouraging them to take responsibility for nurturing them. This symbolic gesture was aimed at instilling a sense of environmental stewardship and responsibility toward nature from a young age.

The celebration was graced by guest speaker Mr. Shrinivas Nayak, President of the Press Reporters Association, Dakshina Kannada. In his insightful address, Mr. Nayak highlighted the importance of Vanamahotsava as a national initiative to increase green cover and combat deforestation. He emphasized the role of youth in creating a sustainable future and appreciated the efforts of the college students in engaging with the community meaningfully.

The event was also attended by the school’s Headmistress, Smt. Shashikala, along with other faculty members, who expressed their gratitude to the visiting students and staff for their contribution. The interaction between college students and school children added a vibrant and educational dimension to the celebration.

Overall, the program was not only a step toward environmental conservation but also a valuable learning experience for the students, reinforcing the importance of social responsibility and community engagement.
