To commemorate the sacrifices, struggles, and milestones of India’s freedom movement, the Department of History under the guidance of Dr Meera, Associate Professor and HOD of History and Ms Tiffany Barrett organized a Poster Designing Competition on the theme “Celebrating the Legacy of Indian Independence” on 14 August 2025 in A4, Avilla Block. The competition aimed to foster creativity among students while encouraging them to delve deeper into India’s rich historical past.

A total of 11 groups comprising of six students each of III, II and I B.A. participated with great enthusiasm. The participants were required to design posters that reflected key elements of India’s independence struggle. The posters were judged on the basis of originality, relevance to the theme, artistic expression, and overall visual appeal. The students showcased immense creativity, with posters reflecting patriotic and nationalistic spirit. Mrs Preetha Tauro Assistant Professor of Computer Application and Mrs Pooja Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce served as judges for the Poster Designing Competition. Devika and group of I B.A secured the first place, Jaffrin and group of II B.A secured the second place and Meghana and group of I B.A secured the third place.

The Poster Designing Competition not only served as a platform for artistic expression but also deepened students’ understanding and appreciation of India’s historical journey towards freedom.
