The session was held on 2nd September 2025. At 9:00 am, the team departed from the college campus with 16 students and 2 faculty in-charges, Mrs. Prima Ferrao and Ms. Akshatha R Sanil. The team reached the school by 9:10 am. The programme began with Anvitha as the MC, who warmly welcomed the students and introduced the session. To capture the young audience’s attention, the student team presented an interactive action song, which created a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
Following this, Shristi and Hifa initiated the session with a fun ice-breaker activity, encouraging the school children to actively participate. They then introduced the topic “Power of Fruits and Vegetables”, explaining the importance of including colorful fruits and vegetables in the daily diet. The session highlighted how different colors of fruits and vegetables provide various nutrients, improve immunity, support growth, and keep the body strong and healthy. They also discussed in simple terms how these foods help prevent common illnesses, improve concentration in studies, and give energy for play. Visual aids, real-life examples, and short stories were also used to make the session more relatable.
The students of St. Lawrence School responded enthusiastically, by answering the questions and sharing their favorite fruits and vegetables. Later, Moksha and team conducted engaging nutrition-themed games and quizzes, which reinforced the concepts learned in a fun-filled manner. The children thoroughly enjoyed these activities, which also encouraged teamwork and creativity. To conclude the session, the college students performed another action song, leaving the young participants cheerful and motivated to eat more fruits and vegetables every day. The programme ended with a short vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the school management, teachers, and students for their cooperation and active participation.
The extension activity was a fruitful experience, as it not only spread awareness about healthy eating habits among children but also provided the UG students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical, community-based setting.
