On October 6th, the Department of Clinical Psychology organized a guest lecture on the topic “Regression in Psychology: Theory and Practice.” The resource person for the session was Mrs. Shubhalaxmi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Statistics and Registrar, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore.

The session was conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the concept and application of regression analysis in psychological research.

Mrs. Shubhalaxmi began the session by explaining the fundamentals of regression analysis, including its theoretical basis, purpose, and when it is appropriately used in research. She further elaborated on the mathematical derivation of regression equations, helping participants grasp the logic behind the statistical process.

To make the learning more practical and engaging, she demonstrated the application of regression analysis using an example, guiding the participants through the step-by-step process of interpretation. This helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical understanding.

The session concluded with an interactive Question-and-Answer segment, during which Mrs. Shubhalaxmi clarified the participants’ doubts and queries, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
