The PG Department of English at St. Agnes College Autonomous, Mangaluru, successfully conducted the “Tales of Horror” story writing competition on August 28, 2025. The event took place at 2:00 pm and attracted over 30 enthusiastic participants. Participants were given a topic on the spot, allowing them to showcase their creativity and writing skills under pressure. The competition allowed stories to be written in three languages: Hindi, English, and Kannada, promoting linguistic diversity and inclusivity.
The winners of the competition were announced as follows: In the Hindi category, Manila Kujur (II BA) secured first place, and Navya (II BDA) took second place. In the English category, Shalini Walter (III BA) won first place, and Shivani (II MSc in Psychology) secured second place. For Kannada, Greeshma (I BDA) claimed first place, and Dharithri (I MSc Chemistry) took second place. The competition received positive responses from participants and observers alike, with students displaying great enthusiasm. The event was marked by a spirit of healthy competition and creativity, underscoring the department’s commitment to fostering literary talent and providing students with opportunities to hone their skills.
