The Konkani Sangh with the guidance of Mr. Melson D’Souza, the coordinator of the Konkani Sangh, visited Kalangan – The Konkani Heritage Home, where we explored the rich heritage of Konkani culture. We were accompanied by Mr. Vikranth from Natak Pangad of Kalangan, who provided us with valuable insights into the history and significance of Konkani heritage. During our visit, we observed numerous statues and carvings that beautifully depict Konkani traditions. We also learned about the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous Konkani singing performance, which lasted 42 hours—a remarkable achievement proudly displayed at the heritage home. One of the key attractions of Kalangan is its five stages, including the largest open-air stage in the state, which showcases various cultural performances. Additionally, we visited the museum, which houses a collection of traditional Konkani musical instruments, including the Ghumta. At the end of the visit, Preemal from 2nd B.Sc. expressed gratitude on behalf of the Konkani Sangh and St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore, thanking the hosts for the opportunity to experience and learn about Konkani heritage firsthand.
