With the aim of familiarizing students with the growing relevance of animation and visual techniques in contemporary journalism, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized a session titled “Visual Storytelling in the Digital Era: How Animation Shapes Modern Journalism” on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the college auditorium.
Mr. Vignesh U, Head of the Department of Animation and Visual Effects at SCS First Grade College, served as the resource person for the programme.
In his address, Mr. Vignesh emphasized that visual storytelling has become a powerful tool in the digital age, where audiences increasingly prefer visually engaging and easily understandable content. He explained that animation is no longer limited to entertainment but has become an integral part of news production, especially in explainer videos, data journalism, investigative stories, and social media news formats.
He further spoke about career opportunities in the field, encouraging journalism students to acquire basic skills in animation software, graphic design, and video editing. He outlined various career paths, including visual journalist, motion graphic designer, explainer video producer, data visualization specialist, and multimedia content creator.
Mrs. Anusha A, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Mr. Manish, Assistant Professor, were present during the programme.
