BEAUTIFUL LENGTHS-HAIR DONATION DRIVE

Department of Zoology and Women’s Cell, St Agnes College (Autonomous), in collaboration with ICYM Central Council, Diocese of Mangalore and Mercy Beauty Academy organised ‘Beautiful Lengths’ – a hair donation drive on 25 February 2023 at St Agnes College. The women’s week inauguration started with the hair donation drive programme.

Dr Najeeb Behzad Mohammed, Assistant Professor of medical oncology, Kanachur Medical College was the Chief Guest. Principal, St Agnes College, Dr M Venissa A.C., President, ICYM, Anil John Sequeira, Head of Mercy Beauty Academy, Mrs Mercy Veena, were also present.

Coordinator Women’s Cell Vishma D’Cunha welcomed the gathering and Head of Department of Zoology Ameetha K rendered the vote of thanks.

IMPRESA-LOGO DESIGNING

An online logo designing competition under the title “Essence of womanhood” was organized on 28 February 2023 by the Women’s cell. Around 10 participants took part in the competition. The best design was chosen as the Logo of the Women’s cell of St Agnes College.

CREATIVA-PAINTING COMPETITION

The Women’s cell had organized Creativa- a painting competition under the title “She is empowered” on 3 March 2023. 4 participants took part in the competition.

SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOP:

Women’s Cell in association with Nature club and Sports association organised a workshop on “Self Defence” on 4 March 2023 at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Mr Arjun Shetty who is an Authorised self-defence trainer at Combat Tactical System was the Resource person for the workshop. He was assisted by Mr Vinay and Mr Punith who have been training and practicing Karate since 11 years.

The members of all the three associations were present for the workshop. Around 106 students participated in this workshop. All of them took active part in the session. The Resource persons gave many insights on self-defence. They also explained various methods of self-defence and gave a brief description on how to protect oneself in times of danger.

Overall it was a good interactive and informative session.

WALKATHON, MARATHON, CYCLATHON

Women’s Cell of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a Mega event “Marathon, Cyclathon and Walkathon” in honour of Bicentennial birth anniversary of Mother Veronica and International Women’s Day on 5 March 2023, Sunday at 7AM at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The Chief guest Sr Rose Agnes A.C. –Assistant to the Provincial Superior of St Ann’s Convent, Sr Dr Lydia A.C. Superior and Joint Secretary of St Agnes Convent and Institutions, Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. – Principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, Ms Blairil Vishma Dcunha, Coordinator of Women’s Cell were present for the inaugural. Sr Dr Lydia A.C. addressed the gathering. This was a sportive event that ignited a spark in the participants.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

Women’s Cell in association with Alumni association celebrated the International Women’s day on 8 March 2023 at the Auditorium-Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary block. Ms Olga Noronha, Alumna and Retired staff-Department of Economics, St Agnes College (Autonomous) was the Chief guest for the program. The Principal, Sr Dr M Venissa A.C., Vice Principal, Sr Clara A.C., Joint Secretary of Alumni association Mrs Asha Dsouza were present for the program. Sr Dr Venissa A.C. welcomed the gathering. A folk dance on the grace, charm and benevolence of women who have contributed to the folk culture was depicted by the students. A drama on “Women who made History” was presented which depicted various Historical women who have given significant contributions to the society. The Alumni association felicitated the girl students under various categories. Mrs Vasudha and Ms Shivani who have bought fame to the college at the International level were also honored. All in all it was a wonderful program that emphasized the significance of womanhood and expressed the essence of women in the society. Ms Vivid Dsouza, Secretary-Alumni association proposed the Vote of thanks.

The program ended with the college anthem.
