The workshop commenced with a welcome address by student Gopika Nair who introduced the resource person Ms. Sandya Karnad Deviah, a communications professional with over 28 years of work experience in technical communication, journalism, editing, management, and leadership. She further discussed the language guidelines and the various steps involved in writing clearly and concisely as technical writers. There was a practical session where each student had to write a Topic, the basic unit of technical instruction.
This was followed by a short break after which the workshop continued on Resume writing and how to make the best of an Interview.
Ms. Deviah who has served in interview panels gave the students pointers on how to best answer interviews confidently and how to write a resume that stands out. Using a cover letter written by one of the students the whole class worked out the dos and don’ts of writing a cover letter.
