The Youth Red Cross Unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised an awareness session on the occasion of World AIDS Day on 1 December 2025 on the topic “Unite for a World Without AIDS.” The session was held at 2:15 PM in A4, Avila Block.

The programme was compered by Ms. Nashara from I B.Com, who warmly welcomed the gathering and introduced the significance of observing World AIDS Day. She highlighted the need for awareness, compassion, and the elimination of stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.

The resource person for the session was Mrs. Prajwal Rao, HOD and Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. She delivered an informative and insightful talk on HIV transmission, prevention methods, myths and facts, and the importance of building a supportive and inclusive environment for people living with HIV. Her session helped students understand the scientific, social, and emotional aspects of HIV/AIDS.

Towards the end of the programme, Ms. Pavithra from I B.Sc proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, the YRC staff coordinator Mrs. Nimitha K, Secretary Ms. Serena Saldanha, faculty members, and all students for their active participation.

The session proved to be highly informative and meaningful, inspiring students to spread awareness and contribute towards creating a world free from discrimination and stigma.
