Agno Cup 2025-Season 3, a Box Football Tournament organized by the Postgraduate Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, was successfully conducted on 17 July 2025 at the NRSC Ground of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore.  This much-anticipated event celebrated athleticism, discipline, and teamwork, drawing participation from enthusiastic students and receiving strong support from the faculty and staff. The event commenced with a vibrant inaugural ceremony hosted by Ms. Dhanyashree D. A heartfelt welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Rashmi R Acharya, Vice President of the Student Council, who extended warm greetings to all gathered and emphasized the significance of the tournament in fostering sportsmanship and unity. The program began with a soulful prayer by Deepti and team, followed by the unveiling of the Agno Cup trophy and a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the Chief Guest, Sr Norine D’Souza A.C. Principal of St Agnes PU College, and Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C, Principal of St Agnes College, Sr Dr M Vinora A.C, PG Coordinator of St Agnes College, and Dr Tangarani, Physical Culture Instructor.  After the unveiling of the trophies, the Chief Guest, Sr Norine D’Souza A.C, addressed the gathering, followed by an inspiring message from Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. Their motivating words encouraged the players to uphold the spirit of fair play and give their best on the field.

The tournament witnessed spirited participation from twelve men’s teams and two women’s teams, conducted in a knockout format. A total of twelve matches were held, showcasing impressive athleticism and teamwork. Each team included seven players on the field and three substitutes. The women’s match was held as a direct final.

In the men’s category, Ombii FC emerged as the champions, while White Dove Brothers secured the runners-up position. Special accolades were presented to Mr. Francis (Ombii FC) as Best Goalkeeper, Mr. Muanlun (Ombii FC) as Best Striker, and Mr. Vaiphei (Ombii FC) as Best Defender. White Dove Brothers were recognized as the Most Disciplined Team.  In the women’s category, Goal Getters clinched the winner’s title, with Ms. Lalkim being awarded Best Striker. As there was only one match. in the women’s division due to limited participation, no runners-up were declared.

The Valedictory Ceremony, held in the evening, brought together participants, staff, and supporters to celebrate the successful culmination of the event. The session began with an expression of gratitude for the energy and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the day. The ceremony was compered by Ms. Spoorthi. A formal welcome was extended to dignitaries including Sr Dr M Venissa A.C, Principal of St Agnes College, Sr Dr Roopa Rodriguez, Vice-principal of St Agnes College, Sr Dr M Vinora A.C. PG Coordinator of St Agnes College, Dr Tangarani, Physical Culture Instructor and Mrs. Panchajanyeswari, Head of the MCA Department.

Special acknowledgment was given to the referees, Mr. Varun Gowda and Mr. Joyal Julian, for their fair and efficient officiating.  The winner list was read by Mr. Abhilash, while the dignitaries on stage distributed the trophies, medals, and certificates to the winners and individual performers amidst applause and cheers. Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. delivered a heartfelt message appreciating the efforts of all involved and encouraged students to strive for excellence in every endeavor. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Priyanka, expressing sincere appreciation to all who contributed to making the tournament a grand success.

The entire event was meticulously coordinated by the organizing committee: Sr Dr M Vinora A.C. (PG Coordinator), Dr Tangarani (Physical Culture Instructor), Mrs. Panchajanyeswari (HOD, MCA), Mrs. Sweedle Dsouza (Staff Coordinator), and student sports coordinators Mr. Preetham and Ms. Ananya.

Agno Cup 2025 Season 3 was not just a football tournament, it was a celebration of unity, perseverance, and the unwavering spirit of student athletes. It highlighted the value of sports in holistic development, created lasting memories, and strengthened bonds within the college community.
