The Department of Clinical Psychology organized an Alumni Interaction Programme on 10 August 2026 at 9:10 a.m. in L3 Classroom, featuring Ms Sana Thampi, Consultant Psychotherapist, Psylearn Centre, Kottayam, as the resource person. The programme provided students with an opportunity to interact with an alumna and gain insights from her academic and professional journey.
Ms Sana Thampi shared her personal experiences as a student and her transition into professional practice. She reflected on how various academic and co-curricular experiences during her training contributed to her personal and professional development. In particular, she highlighted how module presentations and outreach programmes helped her gradually develop confidence, communication skills, and the ability to present herself effectively in academic and professional settings.
She also emphasized the importance of case discussions in clinical psychology training. She explained how active participation in case discussions helped her strengthen clinical reasoning, understand different perspectives, and become more confident in approaching clinical situations. Students were encouraged to make the most of opportunities for discussion, presentation, and experiential learning available during their training.
An important aspect of the interaction was her encouragement to students to become actively involved in academic and research activities. She motivated students to participate in paper presentations, conferences, and research publications. Ms Thampi further shared useful tips for examination preparation, including the importance of understanding concepts rather than relying solely on memorization, organizing study material systematically, revising regularly, and making effective use of academic resources. Her suggestions provided students with practical strategies for approaching examinations with greater confidence.
The interaction was informative, engaging, and encouraging, allowing students to gain a realistic understanding of the journey from postgraduate training to professional practice.
