The competition was designed to test student’s logical thinking, communication, and practical programming skills. Students participated in teams of two, where the computer monitor was kept switched off throughout the challenge. A programming problem was given to one participant, who analysed the logic and verbally guided their teammate. The second participant typed the program using only the keyboard, without visual support from the screen.
Programming languages were assigned based on the class level: I BSc: C Programming, II BSc: Java Programming, III BSc: Python Programming
The Blindfold Challenge provided students with a unique hands-on learning experience. It helped enhance their logical and critical thinking abilities, improved keyboard familiarity, strengthened practical coding skills, and boosted confidence in blind typing on the coding interface. The activity also encouraged teamwork, concentration, and effective communication.
The winners of the competition were:
- I BSc: Joyline and Anjali
- II BSc: Vaishnavi and Rithika
- III BSc: Ismail Shahal and Andrew
The event was well received by the students and proved to be both challenging and enriching, reinforcing the importance of innovative teaching-learning practices in computer science education.
