Career Guidance Session – History

The Department of History under the guidance of DrMeera, Associate Professor and HOD and Ms Tiffany Barrettorganised a session on career guidance – ‘Exploring Career Opportunities in History and Archaeology’ on 30 July 2025. Dr Mona Mendonca, Assistant Professor and HOD of History, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru was the resource person for the session. Dr R Nagesh the Dean of Arts graced the event with his presence. Jaffrin of II B.A was the emcee of the session. Sampoorna of II B.A introduced and welcomed the resource person and the gathering.A total of 70 students of III, II and I B.A attended the session.

Dr Mona Mendonca gave an overview of the numerouscareer opportunities and scope in the field of History in general and Archaeology in particular. She suggested various methods and pathways to opt for a career in history depending on one’s capabilities and potential.She provided the students with necessary information on the colleges and universities that offer History and its allied disciplines.Dr Mona stressed on the significance of history and the growing need of historians and archaeologists in today’s world. She spoke about how curiosity is the key component and the driving force behind every successful historian; thereby encouraging the students to take up challenges and develop a goal-oriented mindset.

The students were deeply motivated and inspired with the session. As a mark of our appreciation and gratitude DrMeera handed over a memento to Dr Mona Mendonca. Sahala of II B.A delivered the vote of thanks thereby concluding the session.
