The Department of Data Science organised a session on “Data Analysis: Essential Python Libraries” on 2nd February 2026 at 9:15 AM in the Statistics Lab. The resource person for the session was Ms. Relisha D’Souza, Assistant Professor, Department of Big Data Analytics, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The objective of the session was to introduce students to the essential Python libraries used in data analysis and to provide practical exposure to their applications. During the session, the resource person explained the importance of Python in data science and demonstrated key libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, SciPy and Scikit-learn. She illustrated how to import datasets, clean and pre-process data, handle missing values, perform basic statistical analysis, and create visualizations like bar charts, histograms, and scatter plots through live coding demonstrations. The session was interactive, with active student participation and doubt clarification. Overall, the session was informative and beneficial, enhancing the students’ understanding and practical skills in data analysis using Python.
