The Department of Statistics organized a Group Consultancy Programme on 05 March 2026 at 11:30 AM in the Statistics Lab. The session was conducted by the Big Data Analytics students of St. Agnes College, Mangalore with the aim of providing guidance and practical insights into modern data analysis techniques and emerging opportunities in the field of data science and big data. The programme was attended by 15 final-year Statistics students along with two faculty members from the Department of Statistics. During the session, the Big Data Analytics students from St. Agnes College, Mangalore shared their knowledge and experiences related to big data, data analytics, and statistical applications in real-world scenarios. They explained how statistical concepts are applied in handling large datasets, performing data analysis, and drawing meaningful conclusions for decision-making. The speakers also discussed various tools and technologies used in data analytics, the importance of programming skills, and the growing demand for data analysts and statisticians in different sectors such as business, research, healthcare, and technology. The programme included an interactive discussion where students asked questions about career opportunities, higher education in data analytics, and the skills required to work in the field of big data. The resource persons provided practical suggestions and encouraged students to develop technical and analytical skills to enhance their career prospects.
