At Sri Uma Coffee Pvt. Ltd., students were given an overview of the coffee processing industry. They observed the various stages of coffee production, including the procurement of coffee beans, cleaning, roasting, grinding, blending, and packaging. The management explained the quality control measures, storage practices, and branding and marketing strategies adopted by the company. Students also gained insights into supply chain management, cost control, and export-oriented business practices in the coffee industry.
At the Kudige Nandini Milk Dairy, students were introduced to the milk processing operations followed by the Karnataka Milk Federation. They observed the collection of milk from farmers, testing for quality and fat content, pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging of milk and milk products. The officials explained the organizational structure, distribution network, and the role of the dairy in supporting rural livelihoods through cooperative systems.
The visit helped students understand the practical application of management concepts such as production management, operations management, quality assurance, human resource management, and marketing. It also enhanced their awareness of industrial working environments, technological processes, and industry–institution linkage.
Overall, the industrial visit was a valuable experiential learning opportunity, enabling students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world business practices.
