The chief guest, renowned senior writer and folklorist Dr. K. Chinnappa Gowda, released the book Mayakada Kathegalu. Speaking on the occasion, he said that efforts to portray local life, experiences, beliefs, and cultural traditions through storytelling are significant in Kannada literature. He also noted that literary works that introduce the life, culture, and distinctive flavour of the coastal region enrich Kannada literature, and conveyed his best wishes to the author.
Dr. Sampurnananda Balkur, retired Professor of Kannada, who was present at the event, introduced the special features and literary significance of Mayakada Kathegalu.
The Principal of St. Agnes College, Dr. Sr. Venissa A.C., presided over the programme. Appreciating the literary achievement, she expressed her hope that the college would continue to serve as a source of encouragement and support, enabling more literary works to find their place in the world of Kannada literature.
Following the felicitation by the college, author Yashaswini Kadri shared her thoughts on her association with the institution and her literary journey. She said it was particularly special for her that her book was being launched at St. Agnes College, where she had pursued her education.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Yashaswini M, a teacher at St. Agnes CBSE School. Prof. Dr. Uday Kumar B, Head of the Hindi Department, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Basthyam Pais, Coordinator of the programme and the Kannada Sangha, proposed the vote of thanks. Kannada lecturer Mrs. Nishmitha K. served as the emcee, while Ms. Deepthi, a second-year postgraduate student, introduced the author.
Faculty members, alumni and students of St. Agnes College, literary enthusiasts, and other dignitaries were present at the programme.
