The PG Department of English, St Agnes college (Autonomous), Mangalore, organized a crash course of 15 hours in Preparation for the UGC NET (English) from 28 June 2022 to 15 July 2022. The sessions were attended by students of First and Second MA English, St Agnes College, as well as students and faculty members from other colleges and universities.

A total of 18 members registered for the course and they were charged a nominal fee of Rs 600/ each for the course. The resource persons for the session were:

  • Mr Om Prakash,: MA (English), UGC NET, KSET,GATE 2022; with 4 years of teaching experience, ranked 2nd in the Government First Grade College assistant Professor recruitment exam conducted by the Karnataka Examination authority in March 2022.
  • Ms Zaibunnisa : MA (English) NET, KSET, Faculty, Department of English, Mangalore University College)
  • Ms Nikitha Pinto, MA (English) MPhil, UGC NET (99.2percentile), Faculty, Department of English, St Agnes College

The sessions were held offline at The Centre for PG Studies and Research, St Agnes College, Mangaluru. However, Heavy rains and a red alert warning by District authorities forced the organisers to conduct 4 of the sessions online through Google Meet. A couple of sessions had to be postponed due to the bad weather and the course, which was to end on July 10th, actually ended on the fifteenth of July 2022.

The participants, who are scheduled to answer the NET exam in the second week of August, 2022, found the sessions extremely useful and interesting. The PG Department of English made a tentative start in the area of coaching for competitive exams with this short course, but plan to make it a regular feature in the coming months
