NSS Annual Camp Report

The Annual NSS camp of the NSS Units, St Agnes College was held at Holy Family Higher Primary School, Mermajal, Bantwal Taluk. The Staff Coordinators along with the student leaders visited the Camp site on 31st October , 2019 at 10 a.m. to make necessary arrangements for the Camp which was to be  held from 1st November to 7th November, 2019.

The NSS campers assembled in at St. Agnes College on 1st November, 2019 at 8.30 a.m. where they were first addressed by Sr Dr Jeswina A.C., Principal St. Agnes College, followed by important instructions given by the NSS program officers regarding the rules and regulations to be followed during the camp. Later the students were divided into 5 groups namely Prithvi, Agni, Akash , Vayu and Vaari.

All the NSS students along with the Coordinators and Support staff reached the camp site on 1st November, 2019 at 10.15 a.m. Rev. Fr Allwyn Edward D’Cunha warmly welcomed all and offered refreshment to everyone. The NSS volunteers under the guidance of the Coordinators cleaned and set the venue for the Camp.

The inaugural function was held on 01.11.19 at 6.30 p.m. at Holy Family Sabha Bhavan, Mermajal, Bantwal Taluk. The Chief guest for the function was Rev. Fr. Allwyn Edward D’Cunha, Parish Priest, Holy Family Church, Mermajal, Bantwal Taluk. Sr. Dr Jeswina A.C. , Principal , St. Agnes College (autonomous) presided over the function. The other dignitaries present for the function included Sr Dr Maria Roopa A.C., Joint Secretary, Sr Carmel Rita A.C., Administrator, St Agnes College, Shri K. Ravindra , Zilla Panchyat, Member, Pudhu, Shri Satish Nayga, President, Mermajal Grama Panchayat, Shri Francis Mendonza, Member, Mermajal Grama Panchayat, Sr Mable, Headmistress, Holy Family English Higher Primary School, Meramajal, Sr Prameela, Headmistress, St. Joseph Higher Primary School, Mermajal, Shri Patrick Pinto, Vice President, Holy Family Church Parish Council, Mermajal and Shri Ronald Pereira, Vice President, PTA , St. Agnes College( Autonomous), Mangalore.

The program began with a prayer, followed by a welcome dance by the NSS volunteers. Mr. Derik Dais, NSS Program Officer, welcomed the dignitaries. The guests inaugurated the camp by lighting a lamp. Father Allwyn Edward D’Cunha addressed the gathering regarding the NSS camp and emphasized on the significance of unity among the youth irrespective of their caste, creed and religion for the overall progress and development of the Nation.

Sr. Dr. Maria Roopa A.C. enlightened the audience with the importance of service by the youth for the nation and the role of the same in the development of the society. The President of the function Sr Dr Jeswina A.C. Principal , St. Agnes  College ,then explained to the NSS Volunteers  the importance of NSS in daily life and its role in the overall personality development of an individual. She also appreciated the NSS volunteers for the selfless services rendered by them for the betterment of the society.Mrs. Vineetha, Assistant NSS Program Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.

Then the student volunteers presented a cultural program followed by a PPT presentation on the activities conducted during the odd semester 2019 by the NSS Units.The program ended at 8.00pm. The guests left the venue after having dinner along with the NSS Campers.

In addition to the regular activities of the camp i.e. Flag hoisting, Shramadan and Cultural program, many educative programs were organized for and by the NSS campers daily from 2nd November to 7th November, 2019.

The Valedictory function was held on 7th November, 2019 from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

3.00 pm to 4.30 pm : Educative Session on ‘Personality Development” for NSS volunteers by Mr. Delan , Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, St. Agnes college( autonomous), Mangalore

6.30 pm: Cultural Program for localites, Mermajal, Bantwal.

3.00pm to 4.30 pm : Educative Session on “Yoga in Daily Life” by Miss. Kavyashree Bhat, ,MPCs Final year B.Sc. Degree Student,  St. Agnes college( autonomous), Mangalore

6.30 pm : Cultural Program by localites, Mermajal, Bantwal

10.00 am to 1.30pm: Singing Competition for Students of English and Kannada Primary School ( Solo and Group) Holy Family Higher Primary School, Mermajal.

3.00 pm to 4.30 pm : Educative Session on “Problems related to women safety” for NSS Volunteers
