The guest lecture on “Introduction to Self-Defence Techniques” was held in A2 on 23 August 2025. The programme commenced at 11:45 a.m. The session began with a prayer song rendered by the members of the Women’s Cell. Ms. Apeksha welcomed the gathering, and the resource person for the session was Mr. Pavan N., an international karate athlete. The convenors, Mrs. Helen Serrao and Dr. Tangarani, along with eighty members of the Women’s Cell and Sports Association, were present as the audience.

Mr. Pavan began the session by explaining the need to learn self-defence and its importance in ensuring personal safety and handling unexpected assailants in various situations. He emphasized that self-defence equips individuals with essential skills to protect themselves from physical harm, enhances personal safety, and builds confidence and empowerment. He also highlighted that self-defence fosters mental resilience, improves physical fitness, and develops situational awareness, helping individuals avoid dangerous situations. The resource person then demonstrated several self-defence techniques with the assistance of two volunteer students.

In conclusion, Mr. Pavan reiterated that self-defence provides individuals with the tools to take control of their personal security and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and independence. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Yukthi, a member of the Women’s Cell Association.

Overall, the session was insightful and informative, providing valuable knowledge and practical self-defence techniques to the participants.
