The Department of Chemistry organized an alumna talk on- “The Future of Chemistry: Emerging Fields and Career Opportunities “ on 28 July 2025,which  focused on the vast opportunities residing in the field of Chemistry. The program began with Ms.Mahima welcoming the gathering. A prayer song led by Kim and group invoked the divine presence of peace and calmness. The resource person of the day was Dr. Jenice Goveas, a distinguished  alumna of St. Agnes College who works as Senior Science Policy Analyst, Ministry of Primary Industries, New Zealand.

Dr. Jenice Goveas began the session by sharing her own experiences in the field of Chemistry in India and In New Zealand. She also shared the new emerging fields like Science policy analyst, Green Chemistry, Materials Science and Computational Chemistry. Dr. Jenice introduced us to a wide variety of career opportunites in the field of Chemistry. The session was truly inspiring and useful for the undergraduate Chemistry students. Overall, the students were able to get an insight on avenues /scope after their BSc degree and along with their studies too.

A total of  66 students from first, second and third degree BSc Chemistry students participated in this session. The session  ended with the vote of thanks by Vidyashree K .This Alumna talk  by Dr.Jenice highlighted how Chemistry is rapidly evolving to meet global challenges through innovation in sustainability  and explore the expanding career landscape, reaffirming that the future of Chemistry is both dynamic and full of promise.
