To enhance students understanding of evolving industry expectations and to prepare them for competitive recruitment processes, the Department of Business Administration (MBA) of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a career guidance session titled 'Career Readiness in a Changing Job Market – Recruitment Perspective' on 9th October 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the MBA Lab, Mother Aloysia Centenary Block, for the students of I and II MBA.
The program began with an introduction of the resource person by Ms Alisha Dsouza, a second-year MBA student. The resource person for the session was Mr Jeevan Lobo, Specialist – Talent Acquisition, WSP.
Mr Jeevan Lobo provided valuable insights from a recruiter's perspective on what organisations seek in young professionals today. He elaborated on the concept of career readiness in the context of a rapidly changing job market and emphasised the importance of employment preparation beyond academic scores. He guided students on professional presentation, effective resume building and developing a strong LinkedIn profile to build a credible professional online presence. He further highlighted the role of networking with industry professionals and stressed the need for continuous career development, upskilling and adaptability to stay relevant. The session was highly practical, interactive and focused on actionable steps students can take from their first year itself. Through live demonstrations, he illustrated how recruiters use LinkedIn to evaluate candidates, provided feedback on students LinkedIn profiles and offered a glimpse into his professional work by demonstrating AI-assisted resume screening and candidate shortlisting. The session equipped students with valuable industry insights and practical guidance to navigate the evolving job market. A specific suggestion given to students was to connect with Mr Jeevan Lobo on LinkedIn the following day, giving them time to first update and refine their profiles based on the inputs shared during the session.
The session concluded with a Q&A interaction followed by a vote of thanks by Ms Jyothi, a second-year MBA student who expressed gratitude to the speaker, faculty members and students for their active participation.
