The Department of Economics, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a session on “Residue to Resource: A Sustainable Path to Economic Growth” on 25 September 2026 at 11:40 A.M. in A2. The session was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of converting waste and residues into useful resources and promoting sustainable practices for economic growth.
The session was conducted by Dr. Soniya Lobo, HOD of Botany, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The session highlighted the importance of responsible consumption, resource conservation and sustainable utilisation of available materials.
The session focused on the relationship between environmental sustainability and economic growth. Students were introduced to various ways in which agricultural and other organic residues can be reused, recycled or converted into useful products. The session helped students understand how sustainable resource management can contribute to economic efficiency, employment generation, income opportunities and long-term development.
