The Department of Statistics organised Two day National Level workshop on STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING on 12 and 13 July 2019. The inaugural function was on 12 July 2019. The programme was open to the Faculty members, Research scholars and students of various constituent colleges of our Country. 62 delegates representing 32 institutions of our Country participated in this workshop.

The program began with a prayer proceeded by Welcome address by Mrs. Shubharekha, Program Coordinator. The Chief Guest was Dr. Ismail B, Former Chairperson and Professor of Statistics Mangalore University. Dr. Selvamani R I.A.S, CEO of Zillapanchayat, DK inaugurated the workshop. Sr Dr M. Jeswina AC, Principal , St. Agnes College Mangaluru , presided over the function. The guests inspired the audience and wished for the success of the Workshop. Dr. Selvamani said that eventhough official Statistics is considered as one of the yardsticks of development, it need not necessarily indicate the real development as the official statistics and the real statistics differ a lot. We have plenty of data what is necessary for the time is to extract knowledge from the collected data. He focused on the fact that the real time data plays a very significant role in the any field of social or agricultural sciences. The chief guest gave a statistical touch to his expression and explained the need and importance of structural equation modeling. He stressed on manipulation, duplication and nonresponse data which may lead to error. Statistical techniques have shown tremendous development over the years.

Principal Sr Dr M. Jeswina AC presided over the program and in her address she enlightened the audience with the applications of SEM and also mentioned about the centenary program. This programme was designed to equip the participants with adequate knowledge about the various coding forms and data reduction techniques with structural relationship between the variables.
