On 25 February 2023 students of III BSC ATC group of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru visited St. Joseph Prashanth Nivas under the guidance of Mrs Froidy Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. Prashanth Nivas is a home for helpless, irrespective of caste, creed and community. They are taken care by the Sisters of charity who run the institution under its present name.

The inmates were very pleasantly excited to receive them. They greeted the students with great enthusiasm. Sr Ornella Thomman welcomed the group. 325 residents were present there.

Interacting with the caretakers, a lot of information about the Ashram and their service was known. It is a divine act by the Sisters of charity towards the community.

The students were taken around the ashram for social interaction with the inmates. Students also kept them entertained with a variety of games and short programmes. Everyone appeared to be happy and excited while they showcased their talents.

Essential groceries were presented by the students as a sign of affection for the inmates. Visiting the old age home and interacting with the inmates created a feeling of respect within most of us which is very important among the current generation.
