The Post Graduate Department of Clinical Psychology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), organized an extension activity at Mangalore East Police Station, Kadri, on 25th April 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The programme aimed to create awareness about stress and promote healthy coping mechanisms among police personnel.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Janhvi, Ms. Alia, Ms. Hansika, Ms. Anamika, and Ms. Deeksha, students of I and II M.Sc. Clinical Psychology, under the guidance of faculty member Ms. Ashwini K.A.

The programme focused on increasing awareness regarding the effects of stress on physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioural well-being. Participants were guided on identifying common signs and symptoms of stress and understanding the difference between healthy and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

The facilitators introduced various healthy coping strategies and provided practical demonstrations of techniques that can be easily incorporated into daily life. These included grounding techniques for managing overwhelming emotions, breathing exercises for relaxation and emotional regulation, simple physical movements to release tension, and the importance of seeking social support during times of stress. The advantages and applications of each coping strategy were discussed, enabling participants to understand their usefulness in managing occupational and personal stress.

The session was interactive, and participants actively engaged in the demonstrations and discussions. The programme helped enhance awareness regarding stress management and encouraged the adoption of healthier coping practices to promote overall well-being and resilience.

The extension activity was successful in sensitizing the participants to the importance of recognizing stress and utilizing effective coping mechanisms to maintain psychological health.
