The Post Graduate Department of Clinical Psychology, St. Agnes College, as part of the Health Psychology course, organized an educational visit for the II Year M.Sc. Clinical Psychology students to the SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire on 8th April 2026. The objective of the visit was to understand the holistic approach to disease and lifestyle management, explore the various treatments offered, learn the principles underlying naturopathy, and observe how patients benefit from these natural therapeutic practices.

At the beginning of the visit, a postgraduate student from the centre guided the students and introduced them to the different naturopathy treatments provided at the hospital. The students were familiarized with therapies such as hydrotherapy, mud therapy, massage therapy, diet and nutrition therapy, yoga therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, and foot reflexology. During the session, the indications and contraindications of these treatments were also explained, helping the students understand their therapeutic applications and benefits.

The students then visited the research centre, where they gained exposure to the research activities conducted in the field of naturopathy and its role in promoting holistic health and wellbeing. This was followed by an interaction with a counsellor from the centre, who explained the role of counselling in enhancing patient wellbeing and highlighted the importance of integrating counselling with naturopathic treatments to support patients in managing their physical and psychological health.

An orientation session was later conducted by Dr. Sujatha K, Vice Principal, Professor, and Dean of the Department of Naturopathy Therapeutics at the institution. She provided insights on the “Integrated Approach of Yoga and Naturopathy in Psychology.” During the session, she explained that naturopathy treatments are based on the concept of the five elements space, air, fire, water, and earth and discussed how these elements form the foundation of naturopathic healing practices. She also shared valuable insights on the benefits of these treatments and their role in promoting holistic wellbeing.

Overall, the visit provided valuable insights into the principles and practices of naturopathic medicine. The centre’s commitment to promoting holistic wellness through natural therapies offered students a meaningful learning experience and an inspiring model for integrating traditional healing practices with contemporary healthcare approaches.
